2015 HUSQVARNA 401 CONCEPT With EICMA being dominated by the Japanese and Italian motorcycle manufacturers, it is easy to overlook the backstory hidden in the KTM purchase of the Husqvarna brand that takes most of the R&D efforts of the new group to focus on this new approach to the street vintage concepts with a KTM heart guaranteed. The 401 Svartpilen and 401 Vitpilen concepts were both unveiled this at EICMA. While both bikes are built on the same platform, the Vitpilen (Swedish for “white arrow”) is fitted with clip-on handlebars associated with the more aggressive café racer style of riding position. The Svartpilen (Swedish for “black arrow”) is built out more like a scrambler with the upright handlebars, as well as tank and tail racks that could presumably be used for carrying cargo on trail rides. There are some very unique styling aspects that both bikes share. One is the copper accents on the sides of the engine case and the rims of the Vitpilen; the other is the round headlight with the inset rectangular lens. It is reminiscent of WWII era military motorcycles. Though the bikes are concepts, Husqvarna indicated that if interest builds, these could turn into production bikes.
