2015: No Automatic Waiver For PDP Returnees, Unless… – Mu’azu National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Dr Adamu Mu’azu has stated that there will not be automatic waiver for both new and returnee members of the party. He however clarified that any new member of the party will be required to personally write to the party seeking waiver to participate in party primaries. Mu’azu stated this at the national secretariat of the PDP during the submission of the report by the Zonal Re-integration Committee for North East Zone and formal reception for former governor of Borno State, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff and other PDP returnees from Borno State. Mu’azu who welcomed Modu Sheriff and other returnees said “I know what is in the minds of many of you, that you have come into the party, you will say you want to contest and they will give us waiver. But we don’t give automatic waiver like other parties. But one thing I can assure you is that anybody that will contest for any position should proceed to buy forms and apply. God willing, we will give waiver to anybody who wants to contest. “So that is the message. We don’t do blanket case. Every application is on individual basis just write a letter and we will process it. Tomorrow we are going to treat a lot of them. So far since I became chairman, we have never turned down a waiver application and I am sure that we won’t start now.” Mu’azu, who described the return of old members as era of a new dawn, assured them of no discrimination in the PDP. He further urged party members in the state to work in harmony. Speaking earlier, Modu Sheriff vowed to ensure that the PDP wins Borno State in 2015 general elections. Explaining why he joined the party, Modu Sheriff said “I want to put on record that I am doing this for two reasons. “To pay back people of Borno State and secondly to help and change this mistake that we made that PDP government didn’t get up to 25 per cent and we don’t have right to ask for anything. So Jonathan will win in Borno State in 2015.” He said they have reached a comprehenisve agreement with the committee and arrived at consensus to work together.
