21Jan HOW HUNGRY ARE YOU FOR GOD’S BLESSINGS? (2) Categories: Daily Devotional “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6 (KJV) Beloved, I don’t know how concerned you are about the things happening around you. I was reading the Pan-African News Wire when one headline hit me. It said, “Why Foreign Investors Shun Nigeria’s Solid Minerals.” Part of the story reads, “The Federal Government [. . .] came under intense criticism for failing to attract core foreign investments in the solid mineral sector, whose potential revenue, experts say, could dwarf current oil proceeds. “Pat Okedinachi Utomi, a professor of Political Economy and founder of the Lagos-based Centre for Values in Leadership(CVL) expressed the concern that easy money from oil, its attendant corruption and ‘hazardous’ licensing regime, deter serious investors from launching deep into Nigeria’s mining market. “The country is said to be losing trillions in naira to ‘poachers’ in the underground economy, especially the gold sector. “Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Mr. Linus Awute, was recently quoted as saying that, in just two years, the nation lost over N8trillion to neighbouring countries as a result of illegal mining and exportation of unprocessed gold alone.” That amount is almost the entire budget of the nation in one year. Losing N8trillion in two years in just one solid mineral alone? The nation is not prospering; instead, it is barely surviving on one economic resource: oil. That same survival mentality can be found all over the church today. As I read on I saw the statistics for the number of mineral resources spread across Nigeria. Virtually every state in the country has solid minerals in commercial quantities that the world is looking for. In other words, Nigeria is filled with funds. If the people’s will could be followed, this nation would be the most desired one in the world. This is not just true for Nigeria alone; the same is true of every country. If you look closely, you will see untapped resources all over the world. Yet believers are going around with cap in hand looking for people to give them a few coins. However, the real question is what are we as the church doing about it? We are just enjoying surviving! But that is not God’s intention for us. If Jesus Christ died simply to give us food to eat, clothes to wear, and cars to drive, then we have failed. I think there’s much more to it than that. When are you going to get your $5million? The revelation you are receiving here is enough to launch you into a big dimension of wealth across the globe. But some are still playing children’s games. Some people are still turning in their beds because it is raining or more likely because God has given them two or three cars. You have probably built one or two houses and think that you have arrived at greatness. But I tell you to arise and move on because you have not seen anything yet. God is ready to bless you until you stop and say you have had enough. Further reading: Ephesians 1:17–23 Daily Bible reading: Morning—Exodus 1–3, Evening—Matthew 14:1–21 Spread the Word, Share!
