27 January 2014 GOVERNOR JOEY SALCEDA Governor Province of Albay Dear Gov. Joey, The Corporate Network for Disaster Response (CNDR) is a network of corporations, business associations and corporate foundations whose objective is to help improve disaster management efforts of the business sector before, during and after disasters. After an eventful year, we are starting the new year with an endeavour that promises to be of great value to the business sector. In partnership with Business Continuity Management Institute (BCMI) in Singapore, the CNDR is holding a World Continuity Congress (WCC) to be held on 11 March 2014 at the New World Hotel, Makati City. The conference theme is “Post Yolanda Lessons for Business Continuity Management”, with a particular focus on the lessons learned from the most powerful typhoon to ever hit the country and the major earthquake that shook Bohol and Cebu in the context of business continuity. The WCC in Manila is the first to be held this year within the Asian Region. WCCs are the largest “meeting places” of Business Continuity Management (BCM), Disaster Recovery (DR) and Crisis Management (CM) practitioners in the Middle East and the Asia Pacific Region. The event is expected to draw 150-200 delegates from a cross section of professional and leadership roles in various industries. It offers delegates an opportunity to network face-to-face with the world’s top executives in business continuity and disaster recovery. We are pleased to invite you to be one of the panel discussants in a forum that will look into what lessons can be drawn from the major disasters last year. The panel discussion is set for 11.00 am to 12.30 pm, on 11 March 2014. We are particularly keen to hear your views on this matter from the perspective of your experience in running one of the country’s most comprehensive and effective provincial disaster preparedness programs. How, for example, can the private sector better work with local governments to be better prepared for severely disruptive events like Yolanda? We are extremely grateful that you have accepted our invitation and we look forward to your valued presence and contribution during the Congress. Very truly yours, RAMON R. ISBERTO President (Signed)
