****3:45 pm UPDATE**** La.16 east of the Tangipahoa River to La. 1054 has been reopened. La. 1054 remains closed with power lines, poles, and tree debris making it impassable. First responders and commercial repair personnel are working diligently to clear the debris and repair damaged utilities. Severe weather is still in the area and we are asking motorists to please proceed with caution. Updates to follow. Previous post: Troop L Traffic Advisory: Troopers are responding to the area of LA 16 and LA 1054 east of Amite in Tanigapahoa Parish following a confirmed tornado touchdown in the area. LA 16 from the Tangipahoa River to LA 1054 is closed at this time due to multiple trees across the road and damage in the area. Troopers will be assisting the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriffs Office and local first responders with traffic detours as well as search and rescue efforts in the damage area. Motorists and citizens are urged to avoid the area at this time. Updates to follow with pictures and more detailed information.
