3-day Sankri Mela concludes: PANCHARI: The three-day historic Sankri Devta Mela concluded in Block Panchari. Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal, who was the chief guest on the concluding day, paid obeisance at the Sankri Devta temple and prayed for peace and prosperity of the people. Additional SP, Benam Tosh, Mela Officer, Tehsildar Settlement, S.N. Suman, Block Development Officer, Panchari, Sajjad Bashir Sumbria officers of different departments and members of Mela committee were present on the occasion. Complimenting the people on the occasion, DC said that such festivals symbolize unity in diversity besides providing a common platform to the people of all walks irrespective of caste, colour and creed to interact and share their culture and traditions. She also appealed the gathering to generate awareness among the common masses about the need and importance of education of girls which is vital for creating a healthy and harmonious society. She stressed for saving the girl child and asked to uproot the menace of female foeticide which is not only against law but against humanity. The DC had a round of stalls installed by various departments for general awareness of different schemes. Responding to local demands of the area, the DC said that administration is fully aware of their issues and efforts would be made to redress the same on priority basis.
