31-Day Daily Devotional on the Holy Spirit March 17, 2014 Build up yourself (1 Corinthians 14:4 NKJV) He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. The Holy Spirit has been given to you to help you in attaining spiritual maturity. The seed of Gods life that was deposited within you at new birth can be developed as you exercise yourself in spiritual things. The devil has consistently attacked speaking in an unknown tongue in order to keep believers undeveloped. The things of the spirit can only be understood when we are engaged in spiritual things. Communicating in an unknown tongue is a way of drawing resources from the presence of God into your spirit. This spiritual exercise can be compared to the laying up of edifices in the natural. There are edifices that God knows you will need for the fulfillment of your destiny. Speaking in other tongues put these edifices together to see that you are well built up. Do not forsake speaking in tongues. Use this supernatural praying language to build your spirit up to the place that God desires for you. If you are not yet filled with the Spirit, simply ask God for this free gift. Receive it by faith and begin to talk to your heavenly Father right away.
