360 Architecture has made at $25,000 donation to The Forum. As a part of 360 Architecture’s ongoing efforts to support design education, the Kansas City, Mo.-based firm and KU Endowment announced the donation Sept. 2. The funds will be used for The Forum at Marvin Hall, a commons and lecture hall that is being constructed by students enrolled in the Department of Architecture’s Studio 804. Five of the firm’s principals graduated from KU, and it has been a longtime supporter and contributor to the University’s educational programs. “We are thrilled to see The Forum constructed on campus and believe it will create a great opportunity for architecture students to connect with one another, and bring together design professionals from throughout the region,” said 360 Architecture principal John Eyler. “Forty-one members of the firm are alumni of the school, and we found our time there to be invaluable in preparing us for our careers. It is so important for all of us to stay connected with KU and the School, and to support initiatives such as The Forum,” he continued. “It will definitely reinforce the School’s global reputation as an innovative educational institution.” John Gaunt, dean of the School, said, “I know I speak for our students, faculty and friends when I say that we cannot thank the firm enough for its many gifts to the school. These include mentoring our students, participating in our programs, and financial support. “We are extremely proud of all that its graduates have achieved, and that they have chosen to give back to us,” he concluded. The firm has actively participated in the Department of Architecture’s Health + Wellness internship program, and two of its graduates work for the firm. 360 Architecture has also employed numerous student interns, who gain hands-on learning opportunities and mentorship with the firm, along with resources such as the use of the firms event space for final presentations. “360 is excited to watch The Forum project come to fruition, and we plan to identify future opportunities to support the School of Architecture, Design & Planning,” said Eyler. The gift was made to KU Endowment, the independent, nonprofit organization serving as the official fundraising and fund-management organization for KU. Founded in 1891, KU Endowment was the first foundation of its kind at a U.S. public university.
