5 November 1605-Guy Fawkes is arrested before he can execute the Gunpowder Plot and destroy Parliament. 1688-Commence Glorious Revolution; William of Orange lands at Brixham at the invitation of Parliament to lead a rebellion against his father-in-law, King James II, thus putting the funk in dysfunctional family relationships. 1831-Nat Turner is tried, convicted and sentenced to death for leading a slave rebellion. 1862-President Lincoln relieves General McClellan of command of the Union Army of the Potomac for the second and last time. Lincoln has just concluded a tour of the Union forces outside of Antietam, where they have remained encamped since McClellan let Lee slip away after the battle.
