5 bikes are on the chopping block - add the 2 that Megan and I sold this summer, and that will make 7 bikes trimmed from the herd. It is so difficult to part with any of them. The scary thing is, we still have just as many still left in the quiver. The good news is, there will be empty bike hooks in the garage.... While I was in the garage this weekend cleaning the bikes and taking photos, I realized another affliction I seem to have is keeping bike parts -- given frames, I could build at least 2 complete bikes with parts sitting around my garage (26 or 29, I have wheelsets for either). As I looked through the boxes and drawers of components - cranksets, brake sets, derailleurs, shifters, stems, seat posts, cassettes, chainrings, countless pedals, countless grips, countless brake rotors, COUNTLESS TIRES... I had one of those oh damn moments. But as I thought about what I might get rid of - I thought, someday I may need those cranksets, or brake sets, or wheel sets. In the end I packed all the boxes back up and closed the drawers. Friends - does any of this sound familiar?
