5 years ago today - October 9, 2009 - my life changed forever. I was coming home from a Beth Moore conference and came down with a fever. 14 year old me had no idea that that day was the last normal day of my life. The fever turned into H1N1 (swine flu) that ended up keeping me in bed for nearly 4 months. After years in and out of hospitals, doctor offices, and specialists, I was finally diagnosed with late stage chronic Lyme Disease in April of 2012. The past 5 years have easily been the most trying of my short life, but at the same time they have been the most joyful, exciting, and growing. This week I have been reflecting on all that Lyme has GIVEN to me and I was truly blown away. The Lord had used this terrible disease to do incredible things in my life and to strengthen my relationship with him. I am thankful for the past 5 years. Lyme has shaped me into the person I am today. While I wouldnt wish Lyme on anyone, I wouldnt trade it for anything. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. - 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
