5000 fans at the Palace of Culture and Sports saw their side lose. Bulgaria started fast, just as they had done on Friday night. Fantastic serves by Todor Skrimov, and some good spikes from Tsvetan Sokolov gave the hosts the advantage. USAs Anderson and Sander werent able to hit back, and Bulgaria closed the first set easily, 25:19. USA veterans David Lee and William Priddy however, fought back in set two, as USA led 4:5. Skrimov won six serves in a row, but USA finished their chances better, and took the set 25:22. Kawika Shoji excelled in set three. The second setter teed up Matthew Anderson and Taylor Sanders spikes, and despite a late Bulgarian rally, USA took the set 27:25. Bulgaria looked tired, and Todor Aleksiev made errors as USA shut out the match. They led 6:1 and kept their distance, eventually winning the set 25:17, and the match. Matthew Anderson was the games top scorer with 20 points. Both teams have a 14-day break before their next World League matches. USA face Russia on June 6/7 in Long Beach, while Bulgaria play Serbia in Sofia on June 7/8.
