#62: Young Folks by Peter, Bjorn & John Featuring Victoria Bergsman God, who CAN’T love this ridiculously catchy song. From John’s opening non stop relentless drumming to the gloriously joyful whistling chorus, this is just one of those happy songs that can make you smile whatever your mood. The message is great too, a real “stick it to the man” track about not giving a damn about what people say and just going for it. Peter Bjorn and John rode this one single as far as it got them, which sadly wasn’t very far. They are however a band worth exploring more; I do actually recommend a few of their other songs including “Amsterdam” and “Let’s Call It Off”. But “Young Folks” is still their masterpiece, and one that gets me whistling every time I hear it.
