7:25 PM EDT MON AUG 4 2014 Good evening. As promised, Im back with a look at the week ahead. Tonight, any showers and storms across western Ohio should dissipate. Dry conditions will then rule for the overnight with lows in the lower to middle 60s. Tomorrow, a cold front will begin to drop south towards the region. This will bring a chance of showers and storms north of I-70 but the Cincinnati area should remain dry. Highs tomorrow will be very similar to today...maybe a few degrees warmer. I think parts of northern Kentucky may sneak near 90 degrees. That front works its way south Tuesday night but more so on Wednesday. This should bring the best chance of showers and storms to our region. At this time, the Storm Prediction Center has parts of the Ohio Valley from Cincinnati west and southwest in a see text area of 5 percent probability for severe weather on Wednesday. Well monitor this threat. Highs on Wednesday will be in the lower 80s at best due to cloud cover and rain potential. By Thursday, the front will be south of the region. How far south is still up in the air as the models still had some differences. But...at this point I feel reasonably sure that only northern Kentucky (and at that just the far southern tier) will have much chance of any rain for Thursday, Friday or Saturday as high pressure will be up to the north and a mid-level ridge would be centered nearby. The placement of all of these features being off by a bit north or south could change this, however, so stay tuned. Sunday, a return flow will become evident and that should increase the chances of rain -- but in no event will it be a washout of a weekend. Temperatures will make a slow uptick through the weekend, but I said last week...there will be no major, 95+ degree heat anytime soon and that does appear to be the case.
