7 Years today since Katies diagnosis,7 years of ups and downs, tons of prayers, a lot of changes, a lot of lets keep this as normal as possible, but yet allowing Katie to know this is her life. Until there is a cure she will need insulin, she will need to do checks, corrections and treat lows, she will need to be on her toes with those nasty lows, to let her know to never be afraid that someone will say shouldnt you know what your doing by now. and cant you be more discreet with your care? Rule of thumb for my child is never make her feel embarrassed or bad because she has type 1, If she needs to do a check and you think she should leave the room to do it, maybe you should leave the room, dont tell her to use the bathroom, ugg the germs that hang out in there. The hardest thing this last year brought is her not wanting to do checks because people might say something and it might make her feel bad so she waits to check her low and treat, she waits until she is away from anyone that may not understand that what she is doing is saving her life. Thank you to those who dont judge and understand. Thank you to those who have helped me out during difficult times, thank you to God for all of the answered prayers. Thank you to all of my D friends who totally get it and rock out the care for our children! I am sure 2015 will bring more of those help needed days Thank you so very much for being there!
