70% Had Five Credit. 2013 NECO June/July Result Out With Statistics – Results Improved The National Examination Council (NECO), on Thursday released the results of the 2013 June/July Senior School Certificate Examination with a total of 719, 593 out of the 1, 034, 263 candidates who wrote the exams, scoring five credits and above. This is coming after years of mass failure recorded by candidates in the exams. If you have not checked your NECO Result, you can click on the following link to check your result: NECO Result 2013 June/July Out – Checking on mynecoexams Releasing the results at the Headquarters of the Examinations body in Minna, the Niger State capital, the Registrar, Professor Promise Nwachukwu Okpala , said 1,052,898 candidates registered for the examinations, while English Language and Mathematics, the two core subjects for both arts and science students seeking admissions into tertiary institutions also came out with good results. According to Okpala: “Out of the figure, 1,034,263 including 128, blind candidates actually sat for the examinations. 681,507, representing 66.63 percent passed English Language at credit level. Mathematics also produced a heart warming result with 668,314, representing 65.50 percent pass at credit level. “719,593 candidates, representing 69.57 per cent passed at credit level, while number of candidates who made five passes and above stood at 998,624, representing 96. 55 percent.” Significantly also, number of candidates involved in examinations malpractices dropped to 8,308 representing 0.80 percent. The Registrar said this year’s result was a marked improved performance against the 2011 result, which stood at 15.84 % pass at credit level. 2012 result of 51. 66 % also at credit level . While reeling out the results, Okpala attributed the improved performance of candidates to increasing levels of efficiency in the conduct of NECO examinations as a result of the achievements made in the Council in the last few years, including; generation and trial-testing of quality test items, upgrading of NECO/ICT for effective and efficient result delivery through purchase of more scanning machines, combating and reducing examination malpractices through introduction of E- Registration for examinations, introduction of full biometrics for curbing impersonation and identity theft during examinations and provision of effective logistics for successful examination delivery. Okpala pointed out that the Council has zero tolerance for examination malpractices. “We have sanctioned schools and candidates involved in examination malpractices through de-registration or cancellation of results, and we have de- registered 36 schools for a period of two years,” he added. Also, Board Chairman, NECO Dr. Paddy Njoku assured that the council does not and cannot fail any student, but that any student who failed chose to fail because according to him “we are working hard to retain the standard of good education.” According to Njoku: “We ensured that the examination is conducted through a robust procedure that is guided by her vision and driven by courage and creativity.”
