75% complete with Chemo. My lovely wife continues to remain strong in her fight. I didnt think I could love her even more with less hair, but I dang sure do. Her tenacity has been an inspiration to so many. I have learned so much about the battle. Many people claim, “That Chemo is some bad stuff.” But if you think about it, “bad stuff” is what you need during a war. Actually, the treatment is not bad – it’s the Cancer that is BAD. Chemo is like a 1980’s action hero swooping in to save the day. Yes, there was a lot of collateral destruction of surrounding buildings and vehicles; but in the end, the good guys win and the bad guys are destroyed. Remember the guys, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Bruce Willis? (I know they are not all from the 80’s, but bear with me). I recently saw The Expendables 2 on NetFlix – all these good guys in one movie! Talk about mass destruction, wow! But in in Action Movie fashion, the good guys save the day, and the bad guys are humiliated and dispatched with extreme prejudice (usually with a clever one-liner after their demise). Wrapping up the analogy, Chemo is the Special Forces action heroes sent in to obliterate the bad cells. The collateral damage is flippantly referred to as “side effects”, and although the Great Director may have another ending in mind, we all pray it ends like those classic Action Adventures. With regards to the one-liners, I can’t conclude without quoting Stallone from the movie Cobra, Youre a disease, and Im the cure. Cheesy, huh?
