8 August 2014 - Andrew and family as well as the Resident in charge of his case, Dr Del Rosario and a representative from each department for therapy: Occupational, Physical, and Speech, all gathered for a family meeting. We discussed Andrews present condition and progress as well as areas to focus on, including techniques and suggestions for the road ahead. Andrew has shown so much progress that everyone is quite pleased and yet there are a number of areas to work on not the least of which is his focus and concentration. Meds are continuing to be adjusted and balanced and strategies developed for the family to take into account when we are duplicating or taking over his sessions at home. Sometimes the experiences of life - getting outdoors or interfacing with the public, will bring enough new challenges to raise the bar so he can continue to progress and of course there will be outpatient therapy sessions, just not 3 hours a day every week day - more like two hours a day three days a week, but we will work on things at home and his total experience will be both challenging AND enriching! A lot was covered and I will look back at my notes and determine what can be shared and what can be saved. In the meantime, we look forward to sharing more triumphs and more visits and trips and leaps forward! Andrewis strong mentally and physically and has come a long way, but make no mistake - he has a lot of work to do and we have to be there to motivate him.
