8 Years ago an angel looked up at me and with a grin she took my heart and proceeded to make it better. She made me smile. She made me laugh. She allowed me silly, goofy and sometimes a little crazy without caring what people would think. I thought I knew what love was before that but I was wrong. I finally realized how my parents felt when I left and what they meant by this is going to hurt me more than it’s going to hurt you. I found that all I wanted to do was keep a smile on that little face. The expensive cars, the places I had planned to visit, and all of the grand plans all seemed to take a backseat to spending time with her. When she walks up and takes your hand for no reason. When she leaves you little notes or presents she has made, it makes my heart melt all over again. On father’s day it’s difficult because she has to spend it with her biological father. I will never be her father but with every fiber of my being I will always be her DAD. This is for all the men who take the time to care about the little people who need someone. Just because!
