Premises Restoration We are very excited about the work that we are undertaking to restore our building to some of its former glory while dealing with the damp issues. The render on the front and side of our building has been removed revealing some interesting details. If you have lived in the area and know any interesting facts about the history of the building, or if you would be interested in doing some volunteer sleuthing into the building’s history for us, please contact the Director on 9431 0500. We have already discovered one woman who remembers when it operated as a shop and residence and she actually worked in the corner shop as a teenager sixty years ago. It is a relief to everyone working in and visiting our Centre that the noisy part of the job is over! There will be no further work for 3 – 4 weeks while the limestone and brick walls thoroughly dry out. Then the limestone walls will be repaired together with more sympathetic re-rendering of some of the later brick additions to altered windows. This will be a bit disruptive with work obstructing the footpath again but should not be noisy or too intrusive. We will keep you informed of the progress of the work.
