82nd Airborne Division Paratroopers to deploy to Operation Inherent Resolve FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division are scheduled to deploy next month to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Approximately 1,000 Soldiers from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division will begin to deploy to Iraq in late January. The Paratroopers will train, advise and assist Iraqi security forces to help build their capability and capacity to defeat threats. Im very proud of the Paratroopers of the 3rd BCT. They have extensive knowledge and experience in training and are disciplined and ready Soldiers, said Maj. Gen. Richard D. Clarke, the 82nd Airborne Division commanding general. They are a dedicated group who will share the high training standards and tactical expertise of leaders in the 82nd Airborne Division to train and assist the Iraqi security forces and enable them to defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The Paratroopers are preparing for a nine-month deployment.
