9th sat we took Shannon Mcskimming and Cole Downard to Hamilton for KiriKiriroas tournament .A corporate event with a good crowd to cheer the boxers on . Shannon was against Yuki Bond ,from Auckland ,also last years runner up in the elite 56kg division.A hard hitter this Yuki ,but shannon boxed very well not letting Yuki in,its hard begin a hard hitter when every time you go to swing your opponent isnt there any more.Shannon took the bout by unanimous decision. Cole was up against Lennox Whitiroa from Hamilton.this i thought was a good bout for Cole ,as it was a boxer his own weight and age. This proved to be wrong ,for Cole ended up dominating Lennox each round,a good boost for cole as we are thinking of asking Kyle Chen down for a rematch this weekend for our home tournament. I hope Taupo gets behind this and we show the rest of the boxing gym that we have fantastic support here in Taupo for our young boxers.
