A 1905 CORPUS CHRISTI WEDDING On February 15, 1905 Lalla Rookh Dunn married Cornelius Robinson in the First Presbyterian Church on the Bluff. The photo below was taken of the Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids for Miss Dunn. Seated in the center of the photo was Maid of Honor, Alice Borden Savage. Her great uncle was Gail Borden, founder of Bordens Milk. One of the earliest elementary schools in the city was named in her honor...Savage Elementary. Savage school was severely damaged by Hurricane Celia in 1970...then got caught up in the desegregation lawsuit and reconstruction was halted by the federal court. It was finally closed and abandoned in 1978. Alice Borden Savage died September 15, 1972. The church where the wedding was held was demolished in late 1920s to make way for the Plaza Hotel.
