A 2007 Foresight Report famously warned that half of the British population could be obese by 2050 if the trend to eat too much and exercise too little continued. However, a new document issued this week by the National Obesity Forum (NOF) has claimed that even this frightening figure may be too conservative. The State of the Nations Waistline said the government is massively underestimating the problem posed by being overweight - and claimed that the situation is worse now than it was seven years ago, with Britain apparently not making the same progress as other nations in tackling it.
