A 4-year-old Dalton, Pa., girl was killed and four other people were injured Thursday in a three-vehicle crash in Potter County. Pennsylvania State Police in Coudersport have withheld the names of the victim and that of a 3-year-old boy, also of Dalton, Pa., who was injured in the crash. The driver of the car in which the children were passengers was identified as 23-year-old Kelly Bresnahan of Dalton, Pa. The third passenger in the Bresnahan’s vehicle was Tiffany Kowalewski, 27, of Mount Cary, Pa.. Bresnahan, the passengers in her car and the driver of a second vehicle involved, Michael Merck, 59, of Murrysville, Pa., were transported to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport for treatment. The 4-year-old was pronounced dead at the the hospital. The driver of a third vehicle was not injured in the crash. State police said Bresnahan was driving a 2007 Dodge Caliber east on State Route 6 in Roulette Township and lost control has she came around curve about a half-mile east of Trout Brook Road in Roulette Township around 4:20 p.m. Thursday. Her vehicle entered the westbound lane and hit Merck’s 2013 Nissan Titan and a the 2005 Dodge Ram driven by Andrew Chapman, 62, of Smethport, Pa. All vehicles had disabling damage, a police release stated. Bresnahan and Kowalewski were not wearing seat belts, the release stated. However, both children were in safety seats. Merck was wearing a seat belt. Chapman’s use of a seat belt was not known, the release continued. Police, who were assisted at the scene by emergency medical staff from four nearby fire departments, said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
