A British soldier from the elite Special Air Services happened to be in a cafe at the Westgate Mall in Nairobi when the Islamic terrorists struck. This soldier single-handedly rescued over 100 people from the mall while the terrorists went around killing people. Witnesses say that they watched the soldier (in civilian clothes) go into the mall again and again, putting himself in the line of fire, and then emerging each time with people that he had rescued. Situations like this bring out either the best or the the worst in human beings. Here one sees those who are killing innocent people in the name of their demented religion. Then there is a man who risks his own life in order to save others, because this is what he was taught was the right thing to do. The things that we choose to allow to influence us, those are the things that make us who we are, those are the things that ultimately end up defining us - THAT is what makes the difference! In my own life, 40 years ago I would have hailed these terrorists as heroes, warriors for God. But that was because of the influences in my life at that time; that is all that I knew. But then Jesus Saved me. I chose to follow Him and let Him be my Master, to influence me and change me. That is why today I am no more what I used to be! "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new". 2 Corinthians 5:17
