A Clip Of My Lesson With KRU DAENG (From muay-thai-santai) Kru - TopicsExpress

A Clip Of My Lesson With KRU DAENG (From muay-thai-santai) Kru Daeng also comes from the Famous Pinsinchai camp in Bangkok where he fought and trained with the rest of our Pinsinchai trainers in their younger years. Daeng is famous for his powerful round house kicks and his intelligent and methodical fighting style, very much like Kru Phon’s. Daeng has upwards of 250 fights ranging across the top stadiums in Bangkok with around 70 fights at Lumpini stadium, where he held the #2 ranking. At Santai, Kru Daeng fits right in, working with his old pals and doing what he loves – sharing his passion for Muay Thai. Daeng is a humorous bad-boy who loves to joke around, but is serious when it comes down to training. Stats & Fight Record: 56kg 45 years of age 250 Fights 70 Fights in Lumpinee A – Class Lumpinee Stadium Fighter Lumpinee Stadium #2 Rank With two weeks left and the long (for me anyway) acclimatization period finally over, I figure I can step things up a bit. For the first three weeks, one workout a day was all I could survive. But the mercury here has been falling faster than Bill Cosbys credit rating; Ive been wearing a light sweatshirt and watch cap for the first twenty minutes of the 0600 workout. The days are sunny, dry and comfortable. This is my third trip to Thailand. When I started training in Muay Thai, maybe five years ago, I wasnt all that crazy about it. I dont have any power in my kicks, knees seemed a little on the dull side, the famous Muay Thai clinch threatened my already dicey back and hands are almost an afterthought. But for me, hands are what makes any fighting system fun. Its a western thing. We dont give a shit about punters, place kickers or for that matter, soccer. We want to see guys knock guys out. With their fists. Were a little punch drunk. I am anyway. MuayThai forces me way out of my comfort zone. But slowly I learned to appreciate what these guys do. Now I love it. So for the last two weeks Im taking a private lesson everyday after the morning session. Id be crazy not to. You cant get this kind of authentic Muay Thai training outside Thailand and the washed down version you get at most western Muay Thai gyms will run anywhere from $80 to $120 an hour. These guys, with upwards of 250 fights, every one of them an elite Lumpini fighter in his prime, THE BEST MUAY THAI FIGHTERS AND TRAINERS IN THE WORLD, get $15 an hour. Yea, you read it right.
