A Fading Spark Foxes roamed The immature hills of my body I lay Broken on the ground Abandoned and lost A hand offered itself It promised To put me back together Instead It trampled what was left Then set me on fire And sent me off Into a rainy world Holding a broken Umbrella Covered in a black garbage bag I didn’t turn to the rain To put out The inferno No. I curled up in A fireproof room And choked On the smoke of my pain Today, I mourn the Charred remains Of the parts of my Soul That lay ruined Imprisoned, because The shame Of my past. My body. My memories. Has banished them From my life Yet still I smile Because I know That my spirit will Never Be broken The Temple of my body Will soon Be rebuilt But I cannot Sit by idly And watch as others Not as strong Give into the Flames And fizzle out Their spark gone dark jewishcommunitywatch.org/a-fading-spark/
