A.L.S Ice Bucket Challenge A.S.L ( a.k.a Lou Gehrigs Disease) For those who dont know, ASL ( Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, try saying that ten times fast) is a neurodegenerative disease that affects the nerve cells in the body. In short, ALS causes muscle atrophy ( the decrease in mass of muscle ) difficulty in speaking, swallowing, and breathing. Ultimately, in most cases, ALS causes respiratory failure, causing death.
