The system detects targets at ranges of up to 300 km and can handle up to 100 simultaneous tracks. Up to 36 interceptor missiles can engage targets simultaneously. S-300PMU-2 was made to compete directly against the Antey S-300V and Patriot PAC-2/3 systems as an Anti-Ballistic Missile system. Aircraft targets can be engaged between 3 and 200 km, and missiles can be intercepted at ranges of 5 – 50 km, and from 30 to 90,000 feet altitude. The S-300PMU2 Favorit missiles are sealed rounds and require no maintenance over their lifetime.. It is claimed that it has a kill ratio ranging from 80% to 93% against aircraft and from 80% to 98% against Tomahawk-class cruise missiles.
