WHAT A FUN DAY!!! We went out to an extremely rural area to visit a special school, Ebulechia! Thanks to my friends and family that donated, I was able to bring chalk, tape, jump ropes, recorders, candy and cookies! Stephanie brought beach balls-it was a party!!!!! I used my remaining donated funds to pay the teachers at the school that are not paid! UNPAID teachers. Unbelievable! Our teachers in America work hard, but these teachers have one textbook per class of 70 children, children who havent eaten, who have fungal infections, jiggers, are barefoot and some are clothed in rags. It was money well spent and I wish I had more! The teachers had a wonderful time learning Mary Had A Little Lamb on the recorders so they can teach the children. The staff was so thankful for the reading glasses as well! We left there and went to a meeting of the area midwives that was going on. I had purchased sterile gloves (thanks to my donors) and gave them as well as some of my medicines I brought with me (thanks to donors). Youve never seen a more joyous and grateful bunch! There were abundant blessing all around! We were parked near some pedicab drivers and they were really nice and friendly so I purchased a bag of oranges from the market and went back to give them each one and they were so happy! They said they were so blessed and that they were the best oranges they ever had. Awesome. Their gratitude is unbelievable! And, I wasnt with some of our team as they went to Esthers home to get the two oldest girls (that arent in our sponsorship program) and get them enrolled in school and paid their tuition for the year in full! The two girls had been kicked out of school because they didnt have tuition fees ($18 per year each). They will also be receiving new uniforms, sweaters and their 2015 tuition paid for (thanks to my donors). It was a wonderful day for this Mzungu (white person)!
