A Memorial Day Message - Food For Thought As a veteran of the United States Air Force, I am indebted to all my brothers and sisters who went before me. I am not always proud of our country, but no governmental ideology is without flaw. My concerns are not for those who serve, but for those who govern. We are a Republic. Representatives are given the privilege to serve the public, by being elected to office by a democratic system of voting. It is a political service and should not be a political career. Term limits are essential. The Founding Fathers were well aware of the threats to our country. Absolute power is a threat, so power was distributed between 3 branches: Administrative, Legislative, and Judicial. Political parties are also viewed as a threat that can erode this system. A two headed snake has only one body. Capitalism through the banking system, and today through the lobbying actions of wealthy corporations and special interest groups, can easily undermine our individual Freedom. How can a single citizen compete against a corporation treated as a person? Government writes legislation to benefit the people. Politicians are elected by the people to represent the people. Corporate personification marginalizes the individual citizen. If the system of oversight known as Checks and Balances continues to collapse, the Balance of Power homogenizes, and a Citizens Vote no longer gets them a True Voice in Congress, this great experiment known as America will Die. https://facebook/photo.php?fbid=686313158063044&set=pb.100000530973315.-2207520000.1400884219.&type=3&theater
