A NOTE FROM JOHN COWAN: I have thought a lot about this record since my first hearing of it. The hat trick of any instrumental leaning music to me (non-coincidentally here) is the very thing that bands like The Allman Brothers, Sea Level, The Dixie Dregs, Earl Scruggs, Bela Fleck, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Bill Monroe, Sam Bush et al have accomplished in their music. That is, the heart of the arts beat must be grounded not so much in dazzling the listener with instrumental prowess as making sure they know the party was created for them and the intention is for them to dance and sing along. Barry and friends have succeeded here mightily in this regard. The choice and beauty of the vocal numbers stand on their own gloriously. Man, this is just a good, sweet deal-ey here; Bravo Barry!
