A New View of an Old Favorite: The Ring Nebula Images from three telescopes were combined to create this spectacular new view of the Ring Nebula. Located about 2,000 light years away in the constellation Lyra, the Harp, it foretells the future of the Sun when it reaches old age and begins to shed its outer layers into space. Lyra is easily visible in the summer to northern hemisphere sky watchers. This nebula is fairly large and bright so you can see it with large binoculars or a small telescope.
