A PHA2 friend of ours found this article: mysanantonio/news/local_news/article/Rare-disorder-common-problem-2674103.php Okay, its almost 3 years old. But it just makes me giddy! Why? Well, for one there were 53 families in the study! Thats just amazing! And the other thing that just makes me giddy is that Ms. Hammers daughters where NOT affected by the disease! So essentially, if the PHA2 is on the KLHL3 and/or the CUL3 gene, then its recessive! (Meaning, BOTH parents would have to have the gene mutation to pass it on and there would only be a 25% chance of offspring being affected.) Sounds like genetic counseling will be in Tays future, but thats okay
