A Peek Behind the Doors of Bergdorfs... On Wednesday evening the JD girls decide to have a night in with a some good food, a little champagne (of course!) and a movie. Now, we do have quite varied taste when it comes to what films we like, but we all agreed that watching a star-studded documentary about the legendary Manhattan department store, Bergdorf’s was going to be right up our (fifth) avenue! It was given the title ‘Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s’, which is said to be a quote from one of the stores many loyal clients, such was her love for the place! Released in the UK at the end of last year, the film is a must see for anyone who loves fashion and all things glamorous. You are given an insight into everything from what it takes to create the amazing window displays, to what it’s like to work as a personal shopper for the store which is the go to place for millionaires and billionaires. One lady in particular made us chuckle. Her name is Betty, and her honest, no nonsense approach towards her customers has made her one of the most successful, longest standing members of the personal shopping team. Age 85, Betty has seen fashions come and go, but sticks steadfastly to what she instinctively knows is right for each clients personal style. What Betty doesn’t know about fashion is probably not worth knowing, and you wouldn’t risk arguing with her! So ladies, if you are looking for something good to watch at your next girly get together, I would highly recommend this.
