A-Plus Mini Mart Roof Fire Controlled Shortly after 4:30 a.m. this morning (Wednesday) fire crews from New Bethlehem, Distant, Hawthorn and Summerville responded to a roof fire at the A-Plus Mini Mart at the corner of Broad and Liberty streets in New Bethlehem. Firefighters said that when they arrived on scene, small flames were visible from the roof of the convenience store. The fire was quickly controlled and fire crews departed within an hour of responding. The fire appears to have broken out in the roof or ceiling of the store, almost directly above the main entrance and just above the lighted sign, leading some on scene to speculate that the fire was electrical in origin. As fire crews were cleaning up outside, A-Plus employees were quickly mopping up inside and it appeared that the store would be business-as-usual for the morning coffee rush.
