A SPANISH PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION CHALLENGES THE MOROCCAN OCUPYING AUTHORITIES BY PAYING A VISIT TO THE OCCUPIED TERRITORIESOF WESTERN SAHARA WITHOUT PRIOR PERMISSION FROM THEM. Spanish Parliamentary delegation started a visit to the occupied territories of Western Sahara from last Sunday 29th September until Wednesday, 2nd of October 2013. On Sunday the aforementioned delegation of four Spanish members of parliament had flown to the occupied territories with the well-known Sahrawi activist Ms. Aminatou Haidar. The lawmakers had accompanied Ms.Haidar on a flight from Las Palmas, one of the Canary Islands, to El Aaiun, the occupied capital of Western Sahara under the Moroccan occupation. The aim of the visit is to conduct a human rights fact-finding mission with the relevant actors and partners on the ground. However, this is the first time during this long-running conflict in which the Moroccan occupying authorities face a great challenge. The aforementioned delegation was allowed in the occupied territories of Western Sahara without prior permission from them.
