A Saturday to enjoy indoor, keeping warm and snuggled as the cold - TopicsExpress

A Saturday to enjoy indoor, keeping warm and snuggled as the cold breeze outdoors allows me some Downtime to rest, rest the body as the mind takes gratitude for continuing wisdom. An opportunity for me today, no classes to teach but under the warm sheets with a book, Yoga Gem, inspiring words well said about having a purpose beyond the physical postures on the mat, or thinking yoga as an exercise. This means we must understand that it is a path to Self-realization—the recovery of our true nature, which is eternal, pure consciousness. Every single technique or practice of the highly diversified approach of Yoga has the same purpose: to set us free, to take us beyond the conditioning of our ego-personality, into the spacious realm of the Spirit, or higher Self (called atman or purusha).” As for me, Im inspired to share that yoga practice is deeper within, a spiritual journey slowing growing one practice at a time, leading us to the peace, happiness, the deep love of our being. What we experience and learn on our mats apply to our daily acts and walks of life. It enriches, enhances, strengthens, balance, and allows us for better understanding with patience, empathy and compassion. “A SINGLE PURPOSE The first thing necessary for Yoga is concentration of purpose. You have so many aims, so many purposes, that you are frittering away your little stock of energy in the attempt to accomplish them all. You are pursuing so many objects not because they are pleasant or profitable in themselves, but because you have neither found out the highest good of your life nor have you trained your will to realize it. “Divers search in the ocean for pearls; they dont find them every time. They may have to dive twenty or thirty times in the deep sea to get them—and even then they dont always succeed. Sometimes they may not find certain pearls for years, although the pearls are there. The diver is doing his duty, but he is not getting a reward. Each of us must likewise make repeated efforts in our own life. Always make an effort. But there should be sincerity in it.” therefore, The power needed in Yoga is the power to go through effort, difficulty or trouble without getting fatigued, depressed, discouraged or impatient and without breaking off the effort or giving up ones aim or resolution. A quiet vigilant but undistressed persistence is the best way to get the sadhana [yogic practice] done.” this is my personal experience over the years on the mat, when my mind, and body counteract each other, a quiet persistent voice in my heart knudges me to remind me, remain with a cheerful consistent heart, be faithful to your body, it is where I live. It is not obsession, nor excessive its, dedication to peaceful healthy life. “Practice demands an effort that is prolonged, stretching over a long duration. One cannot expect quick results on this path. There is nothing like instant Yoga. It requires a continuous effort spread over a number of years. Moreover this effort has to be uninterrupted. A spasmodic effort can never lead a person anywhere. To put in an effort for some time and then to retire in hibernation in order to rest on ones oars is of no use at all if one is really serious about journeying into the land of Yoga. But there is something more about this effort regarding which Patanjali speaks…. The effort must have a quality of cheerfulness about it. Yoga is not a Path of Woe; it is indeed a Way of Joy. If the effort is prolonged and uninterrupted and yet lacks this quality of joy then it is hardly of any worth at all. The effort must have an element of passion about it, for one cannot go to the door of Reality like a skeleton, completely squeezed out. The journey on the path requires great energy.”
