A TBT for all my Union-Tribune and other media buddies. Every year, the UT would feat those of us who had survived 25 years at the paper with a luncheon. They would give each of us a specially minted one-ounce silver coin. The silver was reclaimed from the chemicals we used in the photo department. For many years there was an open bar. Probably not a good idea with newspaper people. When a UT employee reached 35 years there, they would receive a shiny clock with their name engraved on it. Mine is on my bookcase.
