A TRAIN RIDE Received August 25, 2014 I would like to take a family vacation with my husband, who has ALS, and our 10 year old son. We have always worked hard but now I have to stay at home to care for my hubby who has been wheelchair bound since diagnosis. We havent had a family vacation since our son was 3 and my hubby has always promise to take our son on a train ride and to see the mountains of Tennessee. I am afraid our time to do these things is drawing to an end . This has been a very depressing time for us. This man will die soon. And all hes asking for is a one day train ride with his wife and son. This, they call a vacation. Theres something very heart breaking here. I cant exactly put my finger on it, but I can feel it in the pit of my stomach. ALSGA will help this family make some final memories. Dad will die with perhaps a little more peace than he otherwise would have. And his wife and child will have something theyll cherish for the rest of their lives. And it will be much more than a one day train ride. I guarantee it.
