A Unique story of Taqwa... Moulana Maseehullah Rahmatullahi alayh narrated the following story: In the village of Thanabhawan, a wealthy person’s daughter was getting married. The day of the wedding, riots erupted. Everyone was running helterskelter. People were hysteric. The parents of the girl were worried about her safety. They decided to take her to a room in the nearby Masjid. There was a young person staying in the room who was becoming a Moulana. The parents entrusted the girl in his care and hurried of. It was night time. The young Moulana was studying his Kitaab in the candle light. The girl was sitting alone in a corner silently, awaiting her parents. Suddenly the Moulana placed his palm on the flame. After a little while, he grimaced with pain. He removed his palm. This carried on throughout the night. Came the morning, the parents arrived and thanked him for looking after their daughter. Just as they were leaving, the daughter said to her father: “O father, I want you to inquire from him why he was putting his hand on the candle.” When the Moulana was asked he replied: “Shaytaan came to me and instigated me to commit Zina with her. He told me no one will know and I can always make Taubah.” I told myself that if I can bear the flame of the candle, then fine. If not, then how will I ever bear the Fire of Jahannam. I thus placed my hand on the candle and kept on reminding myself to fear Allah.” So impressed was this girl with the fear of Allah which the young Moulana had, that she insisted to her father: “O my respected father. I wish to marry this person. He who fears Allah so much, will never betray me, will never hurt me, will never deceive me, will never oppress me.” The father was hesitant. She was adamant. The groom-in-waiting was informed that the girl was unhappy to get married to him. He accepted her wishes and she got married to the Moulana. She was from a wealthy family and he was poor. The Moulana earned both his Dunya and Aakhirah with his act of Taqwa. “Verily Allah loves those who observe Taqwa” How True is Allah not! We tried everything in life, to be really happy. If we have not succeeded it is because we have not tried Taqwa. Try it, it works. That’s Allah’s promise.
