A WORD FOR PARENTS TODAY Fathers, do not aggravate your children, or they will become discouraged. - Colossians 3:21 NLT When you put pressure on your children - not just to be the best they can be and achieve great things but to live your life for you, you will push them away, they rebel and you wonder if they are really yours. Parents, because we want the best for our children, we dont realize how manipulative we can be at times. As a result of such behavior, we interfere with what God has ordained them to do. If your children are married, let them leave to cleave and dont become the third person in the marriage. Be supportive - be the parent who unites with love. Dont be the overbearing parent who wants his or her way all the time, thereby violating the principle of Genesis 2:24 in your childs life. God chose you as a parent to be the vessel to bring the child into the world. Your child has his or her own destiny. When you interfere with their God-given purpose, there will be trouble. Children are to honor their parents but do you know that our relationship with Christ is #1? (Read Luke 14:26) Everybody must realize that God first - whether you are a parent, spouse, son, daughter, sibling, etc. GOD FIRST.
