A big thank you to all the families and matching corporations who gave their financial support to GEAC this past school year! Thanks to you, in 2012-2013 GEAC was able to fund: - A one-time amount of $7800 among all Quest teachers to help with classroom supplies and curriculum as they transitioned to new grade configurations; - Annual Start-of-Year funds of $5800 among all Quest teachers to set-up their classrooms for the new year; - $6300 for 16 Quest teachers to attend a seminar on "Challenging and Motivating Gifted Students" (funds included registrations fees and substitute teachers); - $3400 in requested grants for items such as novel sets, professional development, science supplies & enrichment, supplemental social studies texts, math curriculum & learning tools, Burke Museum boxes, field trips, student book publishing, mentor texts for writing instruction, and more. In the past 7 years, GEAC and its members have contributed over $100,00 to support highly capable learning in LWSD. Teachers frequently express their gratitude for this support, so thank you again to those who help make it happen!
