A boy has died after being hit by a car at Westmead this afternoon. About 4:30pm, Tuesday 15 April 2014, emergency services were called to the intersection of Hawkesbury Road and Mowle Street following reports a child had been hit by a car. Police and NSW Ambulance Paramedics attended the scene where they found a four-year-old boy with serious head injuries. They commenced CPR on the boy before he was taken to The Children’s Hospital, Westmead; however, he died a short time later. It is believed the boy was crossing Hawkesbury Road with his mother and a six-year-old boy when they were hit by a grey Mazda 6. The child’s mother sustained minor injuries in the collision and was also taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment. The other child was not injured. A 46-year-old woman, who was driving the Mazda, was not injured in the collision but was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests. Police from Holroyd Local Area Command are continuing investigations into the collision and will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner. Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov.au/.
