A brief thought I had on my drive to work; For as many of the ideas going around, why hasnt the concept of building a space station, albeit small than ISS, be done for Mars? My thought of this would be the ability to use the station as a science and research facility for the planet along with a fuel source for xyz vehicle to allow travel between Earth and Mars. More importantly, would something such as the above save overall travel time and fuel expense?
