A classic example of how the emotion and power of the Word of God - TopicsExpress

A classic example of how the emotion and power of the Word of God has been diluted by many modern translations. My new word for today, ekplesso! wow! ²⁸When Jesus finished speaking, the crowds were left dazed and overwhelmed by His teaching, ²⁹because of the great authority His words carried, not like their religious scholars. Footnote 7:28 The Greek word used here, ekplesso, is a very strong verb that means “struck with amazement, astonished, panic stricken, something that takes your breath away (being hit with a blow), to be shocked, to expel, to drive out.” Clearly, Jesus taught with such glory and power emanating from Him, that His words were like thunderbolts into their hearts. May we hear His words in the same way today.
