A coffee with… Kevin Hindley What is your proudest achievement in business? A few years ago it would have been building and selling a successful business, but now I can add starting a business at the beginning of a recession and surviving the credit crunch to that list. We had some great results last year and I’m looking forward to sustaining that momentum. Which individual has inspired you in your business life and why? On the personal level it would have to be Chris Wright, who had enough belief in me to invest in my business at Loanmakers Ltd. His mantra was always: “Don’t risk what you’ve already achieved,” which has proven a useful reminder to me throughout my career. I also have a great deal of admiration for Duncan Bannatyne and his similarly sensible approach to business. His commitment to not necessarily looking for the next new thing, but instead choosing an industry and excelling within it, is a professional attitude that I try to follow. How do you make contacts that are useful to business? Trade shows and forums are particularly valuable when it comes to forming business contacts, but it also helps to just maintain a strong presence in the market.
