A comment I put on another post regarding the oil scaremongering! Written on iPhone so hopefully no grammar/spelling police about! Ok from some one that works in the oil industry it really frustrates me when this s***e gets spouted. Firstly through numerous people I know from geologists to company directors and guys who actually work offshore I have gathered enough information to form a semi educated viewpoint and it is that, not only is there vast amounts of oil in existing fields but some fields they are now finding are either bigger or are able to be better extracted through developing technology. On top of this the same technology is now being used on oil fields that were thought to be dried up and are now producing higher rates than when initially drilled. I actually have first hand experience of one such platform. Secondly if anyone who believes this s***e knew anything about supply and demand they would realise it is in the oil companies interest to have you believe it is running out as this is how they control the price of oil. On that note if were in such bad shape as a country and the oil cannot support scotland(thus meaning supporting Great Britain as a whole is a non starter) why the f**k would the rest of Britain want us to remain?? Thirdly look at my wee picture. Notice lots of coloured squares. The majority are blocks still to be either investigated or bid on and you can see up north how many there are. Also the west coast is untouched. Look at the wee green dot off Lewis. Significant discovery not yet developed. Without going in to too much detail the main reason This area has not properly been researched or developed is down to one thing, no O&M hub or pipeline/refinery. This WILL come and I see no reason to doubt that. Faslane has also impacted this!! As a wee footnote when the oil does run out eventually these things will all have to be decommissioned!!! This will last decades after the oil is finished!! Oops sorry no a big man on the telly told me its all gonna run out soon!!
