A couple points on boycotting. Im very happy to hear that it is working. My stance has always been, and still is, that if it is effective, if it has clear goals/demands then we should *definitely* take part in it, and encourage others to do so as well. That being said, it should NOT be an issue that we shame others about. There is a big difference between encouraging others to boycott and accusing them of being bad Muslims because they drink coca-cola, or something, or making statements like, you do not care about the innocent children who are being killed! Two side points on previously released video: 1. Some accused me of being against boycotting (or boycotting starbucks). Obviously they either did not watch the complete video, or my message was not understood. I say this because there *are* many who DID understand what I was saying, and there are a lot of people who started boycotting *after* watching my video! 2. I was honestly quite surprised by the lack of adab, the use of profanity, and general condescending attitude some displayed. I actually - perhaps naively - thought that *my* FB page doesnt have anyone who would act like that. I thought that when I post things on my FB page I am speaking to those who have been listening to me over the years when I have continually spoken of being kind, respectful, clean in our speech, giving the benefit of doubt (husn ad-dhan), etc. But, indeed there is still much work that needs to be done. May Allah guide us all to that which is most pleasing to Him, ameen.
